Monsters are enemies that Isaac regularly encounters throughout the Floors in The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.

Relevance[]

Monsters pose as both threats and obstacles to Isaac, as they can attack Isaac, dealing damage, and, when they are present in a room, all of the doors will close, preventing Isaac from leaving the room, unless Isaac destroys a door with a Bomb.

Champions[]

Monsters have a random chance to spawn as a Champion. When Bosses are champions, different effects are added to the monsters, such as exploding on death, and different colors are applied to the Monsters as well.

B. Licker
Buttlicker Gif

Acts exactly like a Larry Jr. segment, attaching themselves to each other and detaching on death.

Baby
Baby Gif

Shoots one tear at Isaac when in its range. Can occasionally teleport. Deals contact damage.

Big Spider
Big Spider

Moves like Spider, dashing around randomly and at Isaac if they are in range. When killed, spawns two Spiders. Deals contact damage.

Black Fly
Black Fly Gif

Ignores Isaac, flying randomly around the room. Does not deal contact damage. Can turn into a Pooter if near Poop.

Bloodshot Eye
Bloodshot Eye Gif

Iris constantly views Isaac. If the iris directly views Isaac, it will shoot a brimstone laser at Isaac. Deals contact damage.

Boil
Boil

Its size represents how close it is to firing and how much health it has. Shrinks when damaged. When full size, it shoots a barrage of bullets in random directions. Stationary. Does not deal contact damage.

Boom Fly
Boom Fly Gif

Flies in a diagonal direction, bouncing off of the walls. When killed, explodes. Deals contact damage. Tip: Does less contact damage than explosive damage.

Brain
Brain

Moves randomly around the room until Isaac is in view distance, it then proceeding toward Isaac. Leaves a trail of Creep behind it that does not harm other Brains. Deals contact damage.

Charger
Charger

Moves randomly around the room until Isaac is in cardinal directions, it then proceeding to charge toward Isaac. Deals contact damage.

Clot
Clot

Moves randomly around the room, occasionally shooting tears in an "X" pattern. Deals contact damage.

Clotty
Clotty

Moves randomly around the room, occasionally shooting tears in a plus pattern. Deals contact damage.

Dople
Dople

Mirrors Isaac's movement. Shoots when Isaac shoots, just in the opposite direction. Deals contact damage. Tip: Can be killed by spikes.

Double Vis
Double Vis

Randomly walks around the room until Isaac enters one of its cardinal directions, in which it will charge and fire two brimstone shots, one away from Isaac and one towards Isaac. Deals contact damage.

Embryo
Embryo

Randomly hops around the room, ignoring Isaac. Deals contact damage.

Eternal Fly
Eternal Fly Gif

Flies around its host (Blue Baby (Boss), Corny Poop, Hangers, and Holy Leeches). Invincible until the death of its host. Deals contact damage.

Evil Twin
Evil Twin

Mirrors the player's movement. Shoots three tears in a tri-pattern when the player shoots, just in the opposite direction. Cannot be killed from spikes. Deals contact damage.

Eye
Eye Gif

Iris looks at Isaac. If iris looks directly at Isaac, it will shoot a Technology laser at Isaac. Deals contact damage.

Fat Fly
Fat Fly Gif

Randomly and very slowly flies around the room. Will shoot two tears at Isaac in a "V" pattern if close enough. Deals contact damage.

Flaming Hopper
Flaming Hopper

Hops around the room quickly and randomly unless Isaac is in its vicinity, in which it will hop towards Isaac. Can hop over holes, spikes, and rocks. Deals contact damage.

Fred
Fred

Occasionally leaps into the air, diving into the ground, shooting tears in an "X" pattern on impact. Occasionally shoots an explosive tear at the player. Deals contact damage.

Frowning Gaper
Frowning Gaper

Stationary until it has a path to move towards the player. Can turn into a Pacer or Gusher on death. Deals contact damage.

Quickly moves towards the player. When killed, it turns into a pile of mush that moves away from the player. It must be killed again, or it will regenerate with noticeably less health than normal. Deals contact damage.

Gurgler
Gurgler

Slowly moves towards the player, occasionally shooting explosive tears at the player. It cannot damage itself or other Gurglers. Deals contact damage.

Gusher
Gusher

Randomly walks around the room, occasionally shooting a tear in a random direction. Deals contact damage.

Gut
Gut

Its size represents how close it is to firing and its health. Shrinks when damaged. When full size, shoots an explosive tear at the player, possibly damaging itself or other monsters. Stationary. Does not deal contact damage.

Guts
Guts

Moves along rocks, holes, and other obstacles in one direction and pattern. When one of the obstacles it is circling is destroyed, it will pick a new path. Deals contact damage.

Hanger
Hanger

Floats towards the player on a rope, occasionally shooting three tears at the player in a tri-pattern. Has an eternal fly rotating around it. Deals contact damage.

Hive
Hive

Walks away from the player, occasionally coughing out Attack Flies. Spawn Flies on death. Does not deal contact damage.

Holy Leech
Holy Leech

Randomly floats around the room until the player is in its cardinal directions, in which it charges at the player. Has an eternal fly rotating around it, though this dies with the Holy Leech. Holy Leech explodes on death. Can't fly over rocks, but can fly over spikes and holes. Deals contact damage.

Hopper
Hopper

Randomly hops around the room, unless the player is nearby, in which it will hop towards the player. Can hop over rocks, holes, and spikes. Deals contact damage.

Horf
Horf

Shoots a tear at the player when the player is near it. Stationary. Deals contact damage.

Host
Host

Is invincible until the skull is raised, exposing its vulnerable organs. When the skull is raised, it shoots tears in a tri-pattern at the player. Will only raise its skull when not damaged for long enough. If receiving too much damage, the skull will become crushed, grinning at the player. Does not deal contact damage. Bombs are ineffective against it when its skull is down.

I. Blob
I Blob

Randomly hops around the room, occasionally firing tears in an asterisk pattern. Deals contact damage.

Kamikaze Leech
Kamikaze Leech

Randomly floats around the room until the player is in its cardinal directions, in which it will charge at the player. Can fly over spikes, rocks, and holes. Explodes on death. Deals contact damage.

Keeper
Keeper

Randomly hops around the room until the player is near, in which it shoots tears in a tri-pattern at the player and hops towards the player. Can hop over rocks, spikes, and holes.

Knight
Knight

Randomly walks around the room until the player is either in front of it or beside it, in which it charges at the player. It is invulnerable if attacked at the front or sides, but it takes damage when its vulnerable, exposed brain, located on the back of the head, is attacked. Deals contact damage.

Leaper
Leaper

Randomly hops around the room until the player is near it, in which it hops towards the player. Will occasionally leap high in the air toward the player, going off-screen, and, when landing, will shoot tears in a plus pattern. Can hop and leap over spikes, rocks, and holes. Deals contact damage.

Leech
Leech

Randomly floats around the room until the player is in its cardinal directions, in which it charges towards the player. Can float over spikes, rocks, and holes. Deals contact damage.

Lump
Lump

Fires three tears in a tri-pattern at the player, then burrows underground, only to emerge elsewhere. Deals contact damage.

Maggot
Maggot

Randomly crawls around the room, ignoring the player. Deals contact damage.

Mama Guts
Mama Guts

Randomly slides around the room, occasionally hopping into the air, shooting tears in an asterisk pattern upon landing. Spawns two Guts on death. Deals contact damage.

Mask + Heart
Mask and Heart

Heart randomly moves around the room, occasionally, when the player enters its cardinal directions, shooting tears in a plus pattern. Mask randomly moves around the room until the player enters its cardinal directions, in which it charges at the player. Mask is invulnerable until Heart dies, in which it will die. Both Mask and Heart deal contact damage.

Maw
Maw

Flies over rocks, holes, and spikes towards the player and, when in range, shoots a single tear at the player.

MemBrain
MemBrain

Randomly slides around the room, leaving a trail of creep behind it and occasionally hopping into the air, shooting tears in an asterisk pattern upon landing. Spawns two Brains on death. Deals contact damage.

Moter
Moter Gif

Flies towards the player. When killed, splits into two Attack Flies. Deals contact damage.

Mr. Maw
Mr Maw

Walks towards the player. When the player is in range, it will launch it's head at the player, When killed, it spawns either a Pacer or a Maw. Both head and body deal contact damage.

Mulliboom
Mulliboom

Walks towards the player. When close to the player or when killed, it explodes. Does not get close enough to deal contact damage. Unlike all other explosive damage, this particular explosion only deals a half heart of damage.

Mulligan
Mulligan

Walks away from the player. On death, spawns multiple flies. Will sometimes explode voluntarily. Does not deal contact damage.

Mulligoon
Mulligoon

Walks away from the player. On death, spawns a Troll Bomb. Does not deal contact damage.

Pacer
Pacer

Randomly walks around the room, ignoring the player. Deals contact damage.

Parabite
Parabite

Moves towards the player, occasionally burrowing underground only to later emerge from the ground elsewhere. Deals contact damage.

Poky
Poky

Randomly moves around the room, not disappearing until every enemy in the room has died. Deals contact damage.

Pooter
Pooter Gif

Randomly and flies around the room quite slowly. Will shoot a single tear at the player if close enough.

Psychic Maw
Psychic Maw

Floats towards the player and, when in range, shoots a homing tear at the player. Deals contact damage.

Red Boom Fly
Red Boom Fly Gif

Flies diagonally around the room, bouncing off of walls. When killed, it shoots tears in an asterisk pattern. Deals contact damage.

Red Host
Red Host

Stationary. When the player is in range, its skull raises, allowing it to shoot five tears at the player in a wave pattern. Deals contact damage.

Red Maw
Red Maw

Floats towards the player. When killed, it shoots tears in a plus pattern. Deals contact damage.

Sack
Sack

Its size represents how close it is to spawning a spider and its health. Shrinks when damaged. When full size, spawns a single Spider. Stationary. Does not deal contact damage.

Selfless Knight
Selfless Knight

Randomly walks around the room until the player is either in front of it or beside it, in which it charges at the player. It is invulnerable if attacked at the front or sides, but it takes damage when its vulnerable, fleshy face, located on the back of the head, is attacked. Deals contact damage.

Slide
Slide

Remains stationary until the player enters its cardinal directions, in which it has a chance to charge at the player, sliding back afterwards. Deals contact damage.

Spider
Spider

Randomly dashes around the room in short bursts until it is near the player, in which it will dash towards the player. Deals contact damage. Warning: Can dash between two rocks.

Spit
Spit Gif

Flies slowly towards the player. When killed, shoots an explosive tear at the player. Deals contact damage.

Spitty
Spitty

Randomly moves around the room, occasionally shooting a single tear in the direction it is facing. Deals contact damage.

Splasher
Splasher

Randomly moves around the room, occasionally firing an explosive tear in a random direction, monsters being immune to said explosion. Deals contact damage.

Stone Grimace
Stone Grimace

Stationary. When in range, it will shoot a single tear at the player. Invincible, but it is disabled after all monsters in the same room are defeated. Does not deal contact damage.

Sucker
Sucker Gif

Flies slowly towards the player. When killed, shoots four tears in a plus pattern. Deals contact damage.

Swarmer
Swarmer

Flies slowly around the room, spawning Flies as it takes damage and occasionally spawning either a Pooter or a Fat Fly. Upon death, spawns either a Boom Fly or a Red Boom Fly. Deals contact damage.

Trite
Trite

Randomly hops around the room until near the player, in which it hops towards the player. Can hop over spikes, holes, and rocks. Deals contact damage.

Vis
Vis

Randomly walks around the room until the player enters one of its cardinal directions, in which it will, after charging, fire a brimstone laser at the player. Deals contact damage.

Vomit Grimace
Vomit Grimace

Stationary. When in range, it will shoot a single explosive tear at the player. Invincible, but it is disabled after all monsters in the same room are defeated. Does not deal contact damage.

Walking Boil
Walking Boil

Randomly walks around the room, occasionally firing a barrage of tears in the player's direction. Deals contact damage.

Walking Gut
Walking Gut

Randomly walks around the room, occasionally firing an explosive tear, in which it is immune to, in a random direction. Deals contact damage.

Moves toward the player, only to be stopped by a chain tied to the wall. When the chain is broken either over time or by the player, Begotten sprints at the player, darkening the room. Phases in and out of visibility. Deals contact damage.

Black Maw
Black Maw

Randomly floats around the room. When the player is horizontally aligned with it, it charges towards the player. Ocasionally spawns Kamikaze Leeches. Explodes on death. Deals contact damage.

Blind Creep
Blind Creep

Randomly crawls along the wall, occasionally stopping and shooting three tears in a tri-pattern. Deals contact damage.

Blubber
Blubber

Randomly strolls around the room, ignoring the player. Will occasionally shoot a small yet high-ranged barrage of tears randomly. Can turn into a Half Sack on death. Deals contact damage.

Brimstone Grimace
Brimstone Grimace

Immobile. Invincible. Shoots Brimstone lasers at the player. Deactivates when all enemies in the room are killed.

Camillo Jr.
Camillo Jr

Diagonally moves around the room, occasionally firing a technology laser at the player. Tends to fire more after taking damage. Deals contact damage.

Codworm
Codworm

Stationary. Invincible until the worm exposes itself. After taking damage when invincible, shoots a barrage of tears at the player.

Conjoined Spitty
Conjoined Spitty

Randomly moves around the room, occasionally shooting a single tear from both its heads. Deals contact damage.

Crazy Long Legs
Crazy Long Legs

Erratically crawls towards the player, occasionally stopping to shoot eight tears outward. Deals contact damage.

Death's Head
Death's Head

Flies diagonally around the room, bouncing off of walls. Can fly over Rocks, Spikes, Holes, and other obstacles. Is invulnerable, only dying when all other enemies in the room are killed. Deals contact damage.

Dinga
Dinga

Randomly and slowly slides around the room, occasionally spawning dips and stomping. Upon stomping, will shoot tears in an asterisk patter. Spawns two Squirts on death. Deals contact damage.

Dip
Dip

Randomly darts short distances around the room. When near the player, will dart towards the player. Deals contact damage.

Fat Sack
Fat Sack

Slowly strolls towards the player, leaving a trail of creep behind. Occasionally leaps towards the player's position, shoot six tears in an asterisk pattern on impact. May spawn a Blubber or Half Sack on death. Deals contact damage.

Fatty
Fatty

Slowly strolls towards the player, occasionally releasing gas, letting out a large, brown cloud of gas with powerful knockback. Deals contact damage.

Floating Knight
Floating Knight

Randomly moves around the room. When the player is either beside or in front of it, it will charge at them. Is invulnerable from front, but can be damaged from the back. Can fly over Holes, Spikes, and Cobwebs. Deals contact damage.

Full Fly
Full Fly

Erratically flies towards the player. When killed, shoots tears in an asterisk pattern. Can fly over Spikes, Rocks, Holes, and other obstacles. Deals contact damage.

Gaping Maw
Gaping Maw

Immobile. Invincible. Constantly pulls the player, tears, enemies, and items towards it.

Grub
Grub

Randomly moves around the room. When the player is either beside or in front of it, charges at the player. On death, spawns Maggots, Spitties, and Chargers. Deals contact damage.

Half Sack
Half Sack

Randomly strolls around the room, ignoring the player and leaving a trail of red creep behind it. Deals contact damage.

Homunculus
Homunculus

Moves toward the player, only to be stopped by a cord tied to the wall. When the chord is broken either over time or by the player, the cord shoots six tears in an asterisk pattern and Homunculus sprints at the player. On death, leaves a puddle of creep. Deals contact damage.

Level 2 Fly
Level 2 Fly

Erratically flies towards the player. Can fly over Spikes, Rocks, Holes, and other obstacles. Deals contact damage.

Level 2 Spider
Level 2 Spider

Erratically dashes around the room, occasionally hopping very short distances. When in range, will dash towards the player. Can hop over Spikes, Rocks, Holes, and other obstacles. Deals contact damage.

Mom's Hand
Mom's Hand

Falls from above onto the player. If it hits the player, it will deal contact damage and teleport the player to the start of the floor.

Nerve Ending
Nerve Ending

Immobile. Deals contact damage.

Nest
Nest

Walks away from the player, occasionally coughing up a spider. On death, spawns a Trite.

Nightcrawler
Night Crawler

Burrows into the ground, only to resurface elsewhere. After resurfacing, will fire four orbiting tears. Deals contact damage.

Null
Null

Immobile until the player is in range, in which it charges towards the player. Phases in and out of visibility. Deals contact damage.

One Tooth
One Tooth

Flies towards the player, occasionally dashing towards the player. Can fly over Spikes, Rocks, Holes, and other obstacles. Deals contact damage.

Oob
Oob

Randomly floats around the room, occasionally spawning two Brains. When the player is horizontally aligned with it, charges across the room towards the player. Deals contact damage.

Pale Fatty
Pale Fatty

Slowly strolls towards the player, occasionally expelling gas, shooting six tears in an asterisk pattern. May spawn either a Blubber or Half Sack on death. Deals contact damage.

Psy Tumor
Psy Tumor

Floats diagonally around the room, bouncing off of walls and occasionally firing six homing tears in an asterisk pattern. Tends to shoot more after taking damage. Deals contact damage.

Rage Creep
Rage Creep

Crawls along the wall, attempting to align itself with the player.Occasionally, or when aligned with the player, stops and fires a Brimstone laser at the player. Deals contact damage. Warning: The Brimstone laser lingers for about half a second after Rage Creep starts moving again.

Ragling
Ragling

Randomly hops around the room. When in range, will hop towards the player. Occasionally, when in range, will shoot two orbiting tears. Deals contact damage.

Ring Fly
Ring Fly

Flies towards the player while rotating in a circle of other Ring Flies. Can fly over Spikes, Rocks, Holes, and other obstacles. When no Ring Flies are left, flies towards the player in an erratic circle. Deals contact damage.

Rotty
Rotty

Slowly walks towards the player, leaving a short trail of creep behind. When killed, has a chance to spawn either two Attack Flies or a Bony. Deals contact damage.

Round Worm
Round Worm

Burrows into the ground, only to resurface elsewhere. After resurfacing, will fire a single tear at the player if they are in range. Deals contact damage.

Skinny
Skinny

Slowly walks towards the player, leaving a very short trail of creep behind. Deals contact damage.

Small Baby Long Legs
Small Baby Long Legs

Dashes long distances towards the player in separated bursts. Spawns two Dips on death. Deals contact damage.

Swinger
Swinger

Slowly creeps towards the player, the head swinging around the mush. If the head is killed, a Globlin spawns. If the mush is killed, a Maw spawns. Deals contact damage.

Tickling Spider
Tickling Spider

Erratically darts around the room. When in range, will dart towards the player. On death, explodes. Deals contact damage.

Tiny Haunt
Lil Haunt

Invincible until in range of the player, in which it erratically flies towards the player, occasionally shooting a single tear at the player. Deals contact damage.

Tumor
Tumor

Floats diagonally around the room, bouncing off of walls and occasionally firing six tears in an asterisk pattern. Tends to shoot more after taking damage. Deals contact damage.

Turret Grimace
Weeping Grimace

Immobile. Invincible. Constantly shoots a single tear in one direction.

Walking Host
Walking Host

Walks towards the player. Invincible until it exposes its red tissue, in which it will shoot three tears in a tri-pattern at the player. Deals contact damage.

Walking Red Host
Walking Red Host

Walks towards the player. When exposing its weak spot, shoots five tears in a wave at the player. Deals contact damage.

Wall Creep
Wall Creep

Crawls along the wall, attempting to align itself with the player. When aligned with the player, stops and consecutively shoots three tears in a straight line. Deals contact damage.

Wizoob
Wizoob

Fires a barrage of spectral tears at the player, disappearing afterwards, only to appear near the player later. Deals contact damage.
